Keisatsu Judo Winnipeg is a non-profit community based Judo club that is dedicated to members of the law enforcement community and their friends and family.
Non-law enforcement membership is permitted and encouraged with the sponsorship of someone within the law enforcement community.
We are currently located in the gymnasium at the Garden City Community Centre. Keisatsu Judo Winnipeg has over 1100 sqft of real tatamis (mats) that are cleaned daily
From the recreational judoka to the elite competitor we have a place for you on the mat. Our adult class is for ages 15 and up. On Tuesday nights we focus on Tachi-Waza (Standing Techniques) and on Thursday nights we focus on Ne-Waza (Ground Techniques).
Judo (meaning ”gentle way”) was originally created in 1882 by Jigoro Kano as a physical, mental, and moral pedagogy in Japan.
Judo is a tremendous and dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline.
Judo involves techniques that allow you to throw your opponents onto their backs. On the ground, it includes pins, various chokes and joint locks.
Designed for kids 6 - 14 years old. Our kids class is divided into 2 quarterly sessions (Fall & Winter) as well as a spring session for the months of May and June. We strive to be positive role models by teaching in a fun safe environment. Our goal is to have our students be confident and successful on and off the mats in Judo and life in general.
The more respectful they are, the more likely they are to succeed at Judo and life. One of Judo’s core principals is that of “Mutual Welfare and Benefit”.
Kids will learn how to fall and get thrown without getting hurt. They will also build confidence by learning how to throw partners of all sizes.
In Judo we promote discipline, controlled movements and knowing when to hold back force. "The final goal of Judo is to perfect yourself and contribute something of value to the world."
WE OFFER FREE TRIAL CLASSES AND NEW STUDENTS CAN JOIN AT ANY TIME
