Program descriptions

Adult Classes

From the recreational judoka to the elite competitor we have a place for you on the mat. Our adult class is for ages 15 and up. On Tuesday nights we focus on Tachi-Waza (Standing Techniques) and on Thursday nights we focus on Ne-Waza (Ground Techniques).

Tuesday nights are focused on

History

Judo (meaning ”gentle way”) was originally created in 1882 by Jigoro Kano as a physical, mental, and moral pedagogy in Japan.

Sport

Judo is a tremendous and dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline.

Self Defence

Judo involves techniques that allow you to throw your opponents onto their backs. On the ground, it includes pins, various chokes and  joint locks.

Kids Class

Designed for kids 6 - 14 years old. Our kids class is divided into 2 quarterly sessions (Fall & Winter) as well as a spring session for the months of May and June. We strive to be positive role models by teaching in a fun safe environment. Our goal is to have our students be confident and successful on and off the mats in Judo and life in general.

Respect

The more respectful they are, the more likely they are to succeed at Judo and life.  One of Judo’s core principals  is that of “Mutual Welfare and Benefit”.

Confidence

Kids will learn how to fall and get thrown without getting hurt. They will also build confidence by learning how to throw partners of all sizes.

Discipline

In Judo we promote discipline, controlled movements and knowing when to hold back force.  "The final goal of Judo  is to perfect yourself and contribute something of value to the world."

WE OFFER FREE TRIAL CLASSES AND NEW STUDENTS CAN JOIN AT ANY TIME
